My Dreamy Night Time Skincare Routine.

EVENIN’ FAMILY.

Cutest little people, my Besties, the dream humans.

GOOD EVENIN’!

I love skincare, makeup and any nice smelly things that I can put on my body and face daily and blah, blah, blah.
Soon…what’s new, right?

Nothin’s new. At all. But posts where people talk about their night time routines REALLY get me excited and my most read blog posts/videos that I watch on YouTube.
So I thought, Hey Girl..(to myself) I wanna see if you love writing a night time routine posts as much as you love reading them?! 😱
So ya’ll stay tuned for that conclusion!

Lets get into it, pals!

Numero UNO. And before we get into ANYTHING.
When it comes to routines, makeup, selfies, fashion, ANYTHING, really. I do a lot wrong. So much. I am no perfect skincare/beauty care/makeup care guru who is about to be telling you how to live your life. No. 🙅🏼  Thats why the name of this blog isn’t ‘Hi I’m Olivia And I Am A Professional At All Of This Stuff So Do What I Do And Say Or You’re Doing It Wrong.com’.
I don’t know how to live my life, let alone tell you how to live yours so we are not even going to go there.
I’m just out here sharing my furthest-from-professional opinion and also spilling the beans on products that I literally could not live without.

SO COME ON PALS LETS GO JUMP ON THE NIGHT TIME ROUTINE TRAIN NOW! YAY!

Step 0.5 (before step one, obviously): Wash your damn hands. You little grub.
Don’t touch your face with your hands that touch money and tube escalators and steering wheels and cafe tables and work keyboards and I’m forcing myself to stop there because Hypochondriac faithy is pretty close to coming out.
Just, please. Always wash your hands.

Step 1: Coconut Oil that RIGHT UP.
Anybody who is anyone remotely present in my life knows that I am a certified number one, lifelong membership fan of coconut oil.
For many reasons including, but not limited to: YOU CAN DO EVERYTHING WITH IT.
You can cook with that stuff, you can hair treatment with that stuff, you can moisturise anything with that stuff, but for the sake of this night time routine post.. YOU CAN REMOVE YOUR MAKEUP WITH THAT STUFF.
And thats precisely what I do. Errrynight.

I use that super good pure, organic stuff that you cook with on my face.
And before you get on your Hygiene Horses, yes I have separate jars to cook with. Obviously.

So, I use the super good organic stuff, I take out about… an Australian 10 cent size, so.. like a 20p UK size of coconut oil on my CLEAN (refer to Step 0.5 if you’re still unclear🤦🏼‍♀️) fingertips. I then gently massage it over my eyes to take my eye makeup off and watch alllll that makeup melt away!
It really does take EVERYTHING off. Mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, everything!

BEWARE: You will be seeing blurs after you massage coconut oil over your eyes. I had a panic attack when I first did this and thought my (already poor) eyesight was leaving me for the depths of doom. So I absolutely do not recommend using coconut oil over your eyes in the morning if you need to drive/see stuff for the day.
Did I mention this is a night time routine? 😉

At this stage I give my eyes a rinse and wipe it off with a clean, damp face cloth to get all the coconut oil off.

Step 2: Cleanse that cutie little facey.
I have recently been introduced to something that has changed my life forever! Something that all my friends have told me to invest in for the last few years and its taken me until now to actually buy it. And I am SO annoyed its taken me so long!!
Introducing the Clarisonic Mia.

You might think ‘Uhhhmm.. Faithy, its called hands...???’
Well. You, my friend… are wrong.
Well, you’re not wrong. But you are wrong…. in a way.. I shall explain!
When you wash your face with the Clarisonic, you are removing six times as much makeup and double the amount of impurities. And the crazy thing is, you actually can see it to believe it.
You can see all the dirt, makeup and impurities coming off onto the brush, which our hands just are not ever thorough enough to cleanse themselves.
I never realised how much makeup I was leaving on my skin until I used this brush and now I can’t go a day without it, like I said, changed my life forever!

ANYWAY. I team this miracle brush with my Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip. I’ve been using this for a few years now and I haven’t changed, because I honestly just haven’t found anything I like as much yet!

Extra Tip: I always, always double cleanse! So thats:
Cleanse, rinse, cleanse, rinse. Both times with the Clarisonic!

Now, Girl, feeeeeeeellll how serene you baby butt soft face is.
Just enjoy that moment right there…. Does it get better than this? I’m not sureeeee.

Extra Tip 2.0: Always, always use a clean face towel to dry your face. Nothing irks me more than the thought of drying my squeaky clean face on yesterdays dirty face towel.

Step 3: Treat yo’self!
Depending on what my skin is doing and what day of the week it is, I alternate between two options for the next step!

Option a) Sunday Riley Power Couple duo, Luna oil and Good Genes Serum which – Oh my LIFE.
WHAT A CREATION.

I’m not one to big-up products. If something is average, I move onto the next without a second thought. But if something works, everyone needs to know.
If you’re a fan of overnight results, aka everyone in the world, ever, I would suggest this little duo in your night time routine.

I usually use this combo every second day and I really feel like it gives my skin life. I saw a huge improvement on my skin tone, evenness and I weirdly feel like it stops breakouts before they appear?
I don’t know! I just do!

Option b) Dr Dennis Gross Extra Strength Nightly Resurfacing Pads.
These are supposed to be used nightly but I use them every second-ish night.

I just love my Sunday Riley combo and the lady at Mecca Maxima told me to use them on alternate days… and we all know, whatever a Mecca Lady says, goes!
The swipes have a slight burny feeling when they go on, you wait 2 minutes and then  swipe it off with the second swipe. Which I am almost 99% sure is just a water swipe….?
This alongside my Sunday Riley Duo has given my face actual life. I don’t know how they do it, but I’m not asking questions because something tells me it definitely comes from the same land that unicorns and fairy dust come from… but thats just my theory.

Step 4: All about your Eyes.
Chantecaille. This eye serum is the ONE.

I am never a fan of eye products that end up sort of peeling and crumbing off your under eye area? I cannot stand that.
So this serum is perfect. It soaks right into the skin under the eyes and is applied by a gold plated roller ball which is so easy, super cooling and kinda fancy. Hah.
It does have a slightly burny feeling when you use it, but I’ve learnt to love that feeling now… hopefully it doesn’t mean I’m deathly allergic. Hah.

RevitaLash Advanced Serum.
And my fave Eyelash Serum ever.
“But Olivia, do these things even wooorrrkkk?”
Yes. Sweet Petal. This one works!

I had eyelash extensions for about 8 months and bought this little baby just before I got them off last year. Anyone who has had Lash extensions knows the devastation they cause on your natural lashes. I promise you this serum had my natural lashes back to normal within 2 weeks of using it every night. I promise. This is not an affiliate post for RevitaLash UK. I don’t have to say this, but I need to because its that good!
I still use it in my routine, every second night to keep my lashes thick and healthy!

Step 5: Moisturise that perfectly cleansed and treated face.
Dr Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Moisture Cushion. This moisturiser has cushion in the title and it practices what it preaches because your face feels like a real literal freakin’ REAL LIFE CUSHION.

One with feathers in a silk pillowcase.
One that you lay your head on after an all-nighter and takes you straight to dreams land.
It does what it says it does and I cover my little face up with it at night time, over whatever treatment I’ve used that night and sleep in actual face-clouds
I’ve been using it for 3 years now and I have lived in the sweltering heat of Melbourne Australia, the cold of Devon England and now the hustle-bustle city of London. I have absolutely  loved it along every step of the way. It is a necessity in your skincare routine!

Step 6- sort of: All the other boring/annoying stuff that we don’t want to do but really should be doing.
The hardest thing is finding a proper skincare routine and feel like I’ve finally found a regime that suits me and my skin.
However I know there are loads of other things that play a massive role in the health and appearance of your skin.

SLEEP is so, so important for your skin. As soon as my sleeping pattern is all over the place, my skin is dull, dry and I’m more prone to spots.
WATER a must. Which I don’t do enough. Drinking as much water as you can a day, I think its 2 litres…?
Another thing I highly, highly suggest, is if your skin is still playing up, I would absolutely suggest getting your hormones checked. I struggled with annoying breakouts for a few years and tried any and everything to get it fixed.
I opted for the natural health route and got my hormones tested which uncovered that the reason my skin was playing up had everything to do with the fact that something wasn’t 100% working perfectly in my body.
So I got help from an amazing naturopath, I ended up getting onto some natural herbs (which I still take every morning, and will do for the rest of my life apparently!!) that has helped totally balance my hormones out and has kept my body a lot healthier, also!
But getting my hormones checked was the best thing I ever did. So please don’t put it off any longer if your on the fence about it!! Even if you don’t choose the natural medicine route, you could be trying all sorts of lotions and potions without any results because the real problem lies with a malfunction in your body!
So go get them hormones checked!

Thus bring us to the end.
And to answer the question? Yes… I did enjoy writing this Skincare routine jussstttt as much as I enjoy reading them.
Why? Mainly I like the sound of my own (typed) voice.
And I also really like to share things that actually WORK for me.
What are some of  your fave skincare brands?
